Latisha: A Script Font for Creative Projects

There I was, staring at a blank brand board, trying to figure out how to make the logo feel just right. The client wanted something that felt personal, yet professional—something that could carry the weight of their small café’s story without being too flashy. That’s when I pulled out Latisha, a script font that had been sitting in my library for a while, waiting for the right project.

Latisha is inspired by classic typography, but it has its own distinct flair. It’s not overly ornate, nor is it too casual. Instead, it strikes a balance between elegance and approachability. The curves are smooth, the strokes have a natural flow, and there’s a quiet confidence in how it sits on the page. It feels like a handwriting style that’s been refined, making it perfect for a variety of design applications.

Testing Latisha in Real Design Work

I started by placing it on a logo draft. The café’s name was simple, so I wanted the font to be the star. With Latisha, the text looked like it had been written by hand, but with a level of consistency that made it suitable for branding. I tried different sizes and weights, and even experimented with some custom alternates to add a little variation without losing clarity.

Next, I moved to packaging mockups. The café was planning to launch a line of coffee bags, and I wanted to see how Latisha would hold up in a more functional setting. On the front, it worked well as a headline, drawing the eye and adding a touch of personality. But when I tried using it for the product description, I noticed that the fine details started to blur at smaller sizes. That’s when I realized Latisha might be best used as a display or headline font rather than for long blocks of text.

Still, I found ways to make it work. For example, on the back of the bag, I paired it with a clean sans serif font for the ingredients list. The contrast helped guide the reader’s eye, and the combination felt cohesive. It also gave me an opportunity to explore font pairing, which is always a fun part of the design process.

Latisha in Brand Identity and Beyond

As the project evolved, I began to see how versatile Latisha could be. In the café’s website header, it added a sense of warmth and creativity. On social media graphics, it brought a handwritten charm that felt authentic. Even on business cards, it stood out without being overwhelming.

One of the things I appreciated most about Latisha was its ability to adapt. Whether I was working on a shop sign, a label sticker, or a homepage hero section, it maintained its character. It didn’t feel like a one-trick pony; instead, it offered a range of possibilities depending on how it was used.

Of course, there were moments where I questioned if it was the right choice. Sometimes, the script style felt a bit too soft for certain elements, especially when the brand needed a stronger, more authoritative voice. But that’s where font pairing came in handy again. By combining Latisha with a bold serif or a modern sans serif, I could create a visual hierarchy that supported the brand’s message without clashing.

Practical Tips for Using Latisha

If you’re considering using Latisha in your next project, here are a few things to keep in mind. First, test it at different sizes and in various contexts. What works for a logo might not work for a menu or a brochure. Second, pay attention to the font’s ligatures and alternates. They can add a nice touch of uniqueness without sacrificing readability.

Also, check what styles and weights are included. If you need multiple variations, make sure they’re available. And don’t forget about multilingual support if your project involves other languages. Finally, ensure that the licensing allows for commercial use, especially if you’re working on a client’s brand system.

Overall, Latisha is a great addition to any designer’s toolkit. It brings a sense of authenticity and craftsmanship to any project, whether it’s for a small café, a boutique, or a creative studio. Its blend of classic inspiration and modern usability makes it a reliable choice for headlines, logos, and other design elements that need a personal touch.

As I wrapped up the project, I couldn’t help but feel that Latisha had played a key role in shaping the brand’s identity. It wasn’t just a font—it was a part of the story we were telling. And that, I think, is what makes a good typeface truly special.
